With no danger in the game, neither team really got out of the second pot as Liverpool’s chances of overturning a four-goal lead group top never threatened to materialize.
Liverpool’s two goals did come later in the game, however, after Nunez’s header was saved by keeper Alex Merrett, Salah swept in from close range, then Nunez VAR ruled after scoring a goal after being saved from Virgil van Dijk‘s initial header.

For Liverpool, it was a positive night at Anfield compared to Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Leeds United in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp is delighted at how Liverpool has restricted free-scoring teams like Napoli.
He said: “Even if there were no goals, I would have enjoyed the game, but they were important. We showed a very good reaction. The compact makes a big difference. Suddenly we meet in the right space. Challenges are very difficult to confront.
