In the 9th round of Serie A in the 2022/23 season, Inter Milan defeated Sassuolo 2-1 away.
In the first half, Lautaro shoveled a left-footed shot out of the slide, and Dzeko opened the scoring before half-time. In the second half, Frattesi tied the score, and Dzeko scored a header to overtake again.
At the end of the game, Inter Milan ranked 7th in Serie A with 5 wins, 4 draws, and 15 points, 5 points behind the leader Napoli with one game less. Sassuolo is 9th in the standings.
Sassuolo dominated the majority of the first half but failed to convert it into a goal. In contrast, Inter Milan is the party that creates more chances: in the 14th minute, Dumfries made a cross from the right, and Lautaro failed to hit a shovel shot. In the 27th minute, Calhanoglu shot from outside the penalty area and failed.
Until the 44th minute, Calhanoglu took a corner kick from the right, Dumfries headed the ball to the goal, and Dzeko volleyed and scored, 1-0.
In the second half, Sassuolo began to press Inter, looking for weaknesses in the opposition’s defense to equalise. In the 56th minute, Maxime Lopez sent a free kick into the frontcourt, Pinamonti, Thorstvedt, and Ferrari successively attacked but ended in failure. 2 minutes later, Pinamonti sent a cross for Ceide from the left, and the latter headed the goal to the top.
In the 60th minute, Frattesi finally recovered a goal for Sassuolo. He was unmarked at the time, so Rogerio sent him a pass to help him score the goal. Fortunately, it only took Inter 15 minutes to overtake the score again: in the 75th minute, Mkhitaryan, who came off the bench, passed the ball to the penalty area from the left, and Dzeko scored a header to complete the double ring.
A minute ago, Inter Milan had a good chance to score, but Sassuolo goalkeeper Consigli made a wonderful save to keep Lautaro’s header out of the door.
In the next 15 minutes, Inter Milan firmly held the lead and ended the two-game losing streak in the league with a 2-1 score.
