Manchester United was able to turn things around in the Premier League last week. After losing against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, Erik Ten Hag devised a strategy against Arsenal.
In the 35th minute Anthony contributed the first goal which became the start of the victory against Arsenal. Marcus Rashford’s two goals for Arsenal lost 3-1 with the winning score. After Man United’s defeat to Brighton 1-2 plus the match against Brentford 0-4 made Man United shattered. Alexis Mac Allister’s own goal added to the destruction of the Red Devils.
Arsenal’s side, led by Mikel Arteta, top the table with a fifth straight win in their opening Premier League game, but last week Arsenal were beaten by small club Manchester United to stop Arsenal’s perfect start.
The start of the game started until the 12th minute, Arsenal still led the match perfectly. Gabirel Martinelli drove cleverly and came close to scoring, but had to fail due to a VAR check for a foul by Martin Odegaard. This golden opportunity was also used by Man United to take over the game. Antony immediately gave the first goal which was a great start for Man United.
“The spirit of this team, they can overcome setbacks, so we did it, it’s really great and shows your mentality. We really improved in that,” said the former Ajax manager, who has won three Dutch league titles.
“We are happy and satisfied with this win, also the performance against a very good team. They played very well.” He continued
The battle between Man United and Arsenal is getting fiercer. In the 60th minute, the Gunners were able to equalize. Saka managed to get the ball into the opponent’s goal after Gabriel tried to release the ball by Diogo Dalot. Arsenal’s equalizer did not last long. Man United scored six minutes later through Rashford, with Bruno Fernandes’ cross splitting the Arsenal defence.
Eriksen’s pass was able to penetrate the Gunner defense again by scoring the England international from close range. Man United appear to have found their confidence again after against Brighton and Brentford, with Ten Hag’s approach now paying off.
Arsenal’s appearance this time made the Spanish man worried
“I’m very disappointed because we haven’t won the game,” said Arteta.
“The game is there for the taking. We haven’t won it because we lacked discipline in a while and we weren’t ruthless in front of goal.” he said
Arsenal remain top of the table with 15 points thanks to their opening five wins, meanwhile, Mu’s victory this time managed to move from eighth place to fifth in the 2022/2023 English Premier League standings.
“I told the lads at half-time that the game is there to be taken and if we play with more courage we win the game. It was 1-1 and then it should have been 2-1 [for us]. big lesson if you want to win here you have to do everything right.” Said, Mikel Arteta.
