United were hoping to kill Omonia’s hopes of becoming the first Cypriot side in Europe to win away in England, but a fruitless first half left only a tinge of frustration.
Rashford had 10 shots on target at the end of the game and Bruno Fernandes squandered chances as frustration developed inside Old Trafford when Eric Ten Haag’s last-place substitute Mike United’s challenge appeared to have faded when Tominay fired in the last minute of normal time.
However, to their credit, United’s relentless pressure paid off, with McTominay holding the ball inside the box and scoring a low shot past Uzoho, breaking Omonia’s heart and leaving Old Tra Ford in a frenzy.
