La Liga – Valencia 1-1 draw with Sevilla, Cavani and Lamela scored

In the 10th round of La Liga in the 2022/23 season, Valencia drew 1-1 with Sevilla away.

In the first half, Cavani opened the scoring and Valencia maintained the lead into the second half. In the 86th minute, Lamela scored to tie the game, Kike Salas was sent off in stoppage time, and then Gaya took a penalty but was saved by Bono.

After two consecutive draws, Valencia is now eighth in the standings, four points away from the Champions League. Sevilla moved up to 11th in the standings with 11 points.

first half

Only 5 minutes after the opening, Valencia took the lead with a header: Foulquier made a 45-degree cross from the right, and Cavani headed it. 10 minutes later, the Uruguayan threatened the opponent’s goal with a header, but it was successfully confiscated by Bono.

In the 25th minute, Jose Angel made a mistake in stopping the ball in the penalty area, and was stolen by Lino, but the latter’s last blow was saved again by Bono. In the 32nd minute, Cavani’s heel assisted Lino to smash the goal, but it was a pity that Valencia’s goal ended up being offside by the Uruguayan.

Sevilla also had two scoring opportunities in the first half. One was in the 17th minute, when Rafa Mir took a long shot from outside the penalty area and was blocked by Mamardashvili. The other time was in the 18th minute, when Papu Gomez made a breakthrough pass from the right, but Rafa Mir headed the goal but Mamardashvili bravely resolved it.

second half

In the opening stage of the second half, Sevilla relied on Rafa Mir to score by surprise, but was ruled out by the referee for offside. Their offensive has since intensified: in the 60th minute, Gudelj shot a long-range shot from outside the penalty area and was blocked by Mamardashvili. In the 61st minute, Lamela pushed a shot from the near corner without being marked, but was blocked by Gaya due to hesitation. In the 68th minute, Lamela made a right-corner pass, and Gudelj hit the crossbar with a header.

The deadlock on the field was not broken until the 85th minute: Oliver Torres took a corner kick from the right, Kike Salas assisted Lamela with a header and scored, 1-1.

After the game entered stoppage time, Valencia had a chance to go beyond the score again: Pap Gomez and Kike Salas fouled Kluivert Jr. and Thierry Correa at the same time and they fell On the ground, the referee showed a red card and sent off Kike Salas, and confirmed the penalty. However, Gaya, who was responsible for taking the penalty kick, failed to seize this great opportunity. He pushed a left-footed shot into the near corner, only to be denied by Bono.

In the end, Valencia was tied 1-1 by Sevilla before the end.
