La Liga – Real Madrid 3-1 Barcelona

Barcelona ‘s unbeaten start to the La Liga season has come to an end, with the Blaugrana no longer at the top of the table thanks to a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Clasico.

Barca got off to a solid start in the game, possessing the ball and attacking quickly between the lines, with Rafinha forcing a fine save from Andre Lunin in the first 10 minutes.

But Karim Benzema followed, taking the lead to bounce off Vinicius’ shot, while Marc – Andre ter Stegen was unable to take on Toni in midfield after Sergio Busquets was unable to Kroos saved it on the counterattack that started the foul.

Barca responded well to falling behind and had a few good moments to attack, their best chance coming from an easy effort from Robert Lewandowski at the far post.

Second half

Xavi Hernandez made no changes at half-time, and despite a two-goal loss and poor performance from some players, the first 15 minutes of the second half were predictably poor when Benzema ‘s goal was swept away. Barca were lucky not to be trailing 3-0 by a narrow offside when it was ruled out .

Eric Garcia was called for a penalty on Rodrigo in the 90th minute, and the Brazilian winger made it 3-1 to seal the victory for the hosts. The final whistle sounded and Madrid were again at the top of the table.
