Former Hawks veteran Gallinari confirms that he will miss Celtics fall training camp and first 6 regular season games after 2 months of injury

Following the recent 34-year-old NBA forward veteran Danilo Gallinari suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee while representing the Italian national team in a 2023 World Cup qualifier, he underwent an MRI and was given a 2-month schedule. Treatment time, will miss the newly added Celtics’ fall training camp.

Gallinari was traded to the San Antonio Spurs by the Atlanta Hawks in late June for 25-year-old guard Dejounte Murray. The veteran forward then agreed to a buyout with the Spurs, and Gallinari signed a two-year, $13 million contract with the Celtics after leaving the Spurs, ready to represent the new team from 2022 to 2023 to play in the new season.

The Celtics’ acquisition of the veteran is a plan to allow him to share the minutes and scoring burdens of offense lead Jason Tatum and 36-year-old forward Al Horford. His addition could provide depth in the backcourt and improve pitching efficiency in the rotation.

But now the veteran striker has suffered an injury. According to the report, he will miss at least eight weeks and is expected to return in November. As for whether Gallinari’s left knee meniscus tear will be surgically treated and the severity of the injury location, the team has not yet announced specifically.

That means Gallinari will miss the Celtics’ preseason, which begins on Oct. 3, and the first six regular-season games, which kick off Oct. 19.
