FAW confirms four-year extension with manager Rob Page

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) announced on the 12th that it has renewed its contract with Wales coach Rob Page for four years in return for his excellent coaching performance.

Rob Page , then assistant coach, was appointed caretaker coach for Wales in November 2020 after Giggs raped his ex-girlfriend. Under his rule, the Welsh team advanced to the round of 2021 Euro 2021 with the second place in the group, returning to the World Cup finals from the play-offs after 64 years.

In June 2022, Giggs confirmed his resignation as the coach of the Wales team , and Page then officially became a regular, and the contract was signed until December 2022.

“It’s an honor to coach the national team,” Page told the FAW website. “I can’t wait to take on the challenge of the next four years, starting with our first World Cup trip in 64 years.”

“Participating in the World Cup is an exciting time for Welsh football and I hope we can make the country proud in November and continue our success by qualifying for more major events in the future.”

FAW chairman Steve Williams then said: “I am delighted that Rob has agreed a four-year contract with the Welsh FA to take the Welsh men’s national team to the next level.

“The FIFA World Cup is a great opportunity for Wales to showcase themselves on the world stage and I’m sure Rob is the perfect person for the role, whether in Qatar or elsewhere.”

For now, Page has his sights set on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and next month’s Europa League. Wales will then play Belgium on September 22 and return to Cardiff City against Poland on the 25th.
