British Royal Family and UK Department for Culture, Media & Sport to consider postponing all footballing activities throughout the country in light of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing..

The British Royal Family and the Department for Culture, Media & Sport released a joint statement via Sky Sports on Thursday night, saying that after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the  Department for Culture, Media & Sport and Prime Minister Liz Truss’ government are considering to postpone this weekend’s football competitions all over the country, including the all eagues and cup matches such as the Premier League, EFL Championship, EFL League One, EFL League Two, Scottish Premiership, Scottish Championship, Scottish League One, Scottish League Two, Northern Ireland Football League, Northern Ireland Football Championship and etc. altogether as a mark of respect and condolences to the late Queen.

The statement said that the cabinet will discuss with the Department for Culture, Media & Sport on Friday morning local time and then report to the royal family before making a formal response to whether to adjust the schedule.

The English Football League (EFL) has decided to postpone Burnley’s Championship game against Norwich City and Tranmere Rovers’ League Two game against Stockport County, according to reports.

At the same time, the Scottish Football Association also announced its decision to postpone Cove Rangers’ match against Dundee.

The Northern Ireland Football Association announced the postponement of all Northern Ireland Football League and Northern Ireland Championship matches on Friday.
