Big spending Nottingham Forest signs Atlético Madrid left-back Renan Lodi on a season-long loan..

Nottingham Forest announced on its official website in the evening of Asian time today that the club has signed Atlético Madrid’s Brazil international left-back Renan Lodi on a season-long loan.

According to Nottingham Forest‘s official statement, Lodi will join the club on loan for one season, with the club having an option to turn Lodi’s move permanent.

In addition, according to the renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lodi’s loan fee is €5million and his buyout fee is set at €30million .

The 24-year-old Lodi was born in Serrana, Brazil on April 8, 1998. He is 1.73 meters tall and has dual nationalities of Brazil and Italy. He is a left back by natural but can also play as a left winger. Lodi joined Atlético Paranaense’s youth system in 2012 and made his first-team debut in October 2016. Lodi officially became the key player of the first team squad in 2018. In the same year, he helped the club win the Copa Sudamericana and Campeonato Paranaense.

In the summer of 2019, Lodi joined Atlético Madrid for €21.75million. Soon after joining, he began to establish himself as the main players for Los Colcheneros, and even began to become the club’s surprise goal and assist provider. In the 2020/21 season, Lodi, who has repeatedly made contributions when the club is on the verge of losing, led his team to overwhelm local rivals Real Madrid to become the La Liga champion.

Last season, Lodi made 42 appearance in all competitions for Atlético Madrid, scoring 4 goals and providing 6 assists. This season, he has yet to play for the club.

At the international level, Lodi has been a member of the Brazil national team since 2019. So far, he has played 15 times, providing 5 assists in all competitions for his country.

The arrival of Lodi also means that newly promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest, who has been buying non-stop this summer, has signed a total of 18 new players.

It is worth mentioning that Lodi was once linked with a transfer to Manchester City this summer, but the Premier League club that he joined in the end turned out to be Forest.
